The Native American Storytelling Project

In collaboration with the USD 259 Native American Indian Education Program, Arts Partners helped local Native American students adapt stories told by community elders into a stage play. This performance gave students from grades 1-12 the opportunity to design costumes and props, build sets, perform, and narrate for a live audience.

The Keeper Planeview at Jardine

Together Wichita and Arts Partners came together with the students at Jardine STEM and Career Exploration Career Academy to create The Keeper of Planeview. This Keeper of the Plains stands outside of Jardine Middle School in Wichita’s Planeview are. The designs on this statue were inspired and created by students at Jardine Middle as a way to celebrate their community and the 150th Anniversary of the City of Wichita.

What Educators are Saying

“Over the years, I have had artists with Arts Partners work with my classes on a variety of projects, and have always been thrilled with the outcomes. The artists are all well prepared, and came with engaging ideas and projects that helped my students achieve the standards of the class.”

Former North High English teacher

“As a classroom teacher for many years, working with Arts Partners was fabulous! My students always enjoyed having the artists visit the class for the inspiring and creative activities.

As a principal, I’ve encouraged our teachers to utilize these amazing artists as often as possible through our partnership. We’ve had many school assemblies every year for various projects, holidays, themes, etc. Teachers often utilize the funding for field trips to places many of our Title 1 students never get to go to without this opportunity.

We also have the 21st Century grant for an incredible after school program in which we utilize MANY of the artists. Our friends at Arts Partners help make learning fun and engaging for students and we are so thankful for this relationship!”

Theresa Manning

Principal, Adams Elementary

“Our students LOVE having Arts Partners artists in our school. We especially enjoy being able to sing, dance, and create WITH the artists. As arts educators, our hope is to allow students to CREATE music, dance, and art, not just learn ABOUT it. Making art WITH a guest artist, proves to the students that they ARE artists, not just observers of art. As classroom teachers, allowing students to discover the creative use of math, science, and language arts gives real life application to skills learned.”

Nina Kindt

Music Educator, OK Elementary School
