Investigation Stations

Investigation Station programs are designed for groups of 10 or more and are in line with the Kansas State Standards for Science (KCCRSS). Each station can accommodate one classroom of students. Groups are assigned based on grade and group size. Possible topics include Three Little Pigs, Pollinator Protectors, Wild Weather, Climate Challenge, and Vet’s Eye View. Program topics change annually. Students with special needs are welcome in all programs. For every ten students, one adult must attend the program and be present with the group at the Zoo. Program requests should be made online at https://scz.org/field-trips.

Arts Opportunities

While there are not pure art programs for school groups, the Zoo is an excellent site for creative writing, photography, sketching, and painting.

Sculpture and Landscapes

The Zoo has a growing collection of realistic animal sculptures placed throughout the grounds. Landscape architecture and horticulture are other prime areas for observation and study.
