World Culture Party
World Culture Party is the unique combination of folk dancer Joyce Gedraitis and world musician Trevor Stewart.
Joyce Gedraitis has danced with folk dance groups all over the United States and in London, England. During the summer of 2009, Joyce went to Israel where she attended a 10-day summer course in Israeli folk dancing. Trevor Stewart brings a rich collection of musical instruments from around the world, including the Chapman Stick, a unique musical instrument invented in the U.S. in 1969 by Emmett Chapman.
Trevor and Joyce did a wonderful job getting students involved in both the dance and the music. I had requested that they slow the music down so our students could participate more easily, and they did so. They had the entire dance area full by the end of their performance/presentation. I think they did a good job of simplifying the material to a way that our students could understand what they were talking about. I was so touched when I saw some of our new boys who had a tough guy persona get up.
