Decoding Graffiti: Lettering Styles, Techniques and Impact

How something is written can be just as important as what it says. This program is an introduction to the visual language of lettering styles. Students will learn techniques of graffiti styles while discussing the influence and impacts of tagging, advertising, historical propaganda signs, and uses of graffiti throughout history from cave painting to today. Students will create a word that they want to live by or share with the world. *This can be put together in a mural, but further planning and workshops will need to be discussed with teacher.
