Storytelling/Circle Time

_______________________________________________________________________

Using familiar folk tales and fairy tales, students will be introduced to the art of storytelling, learn how to identify story elements and be able to recall 3 details of the story. Grade 3-5 will retell 3-5 events of the story in the correct sequence. The artist will use puppets and other props to help enhance the stories. Key words and themes will be translated into the students’ native language to assist with comprehension. Older students will break into smaller groups to create a performance retelling one of the stories.

The teachers will be encouraged to have the students participate in buddy reading after the workshop, pairing English and non-English speaking students.
