Arts Partners has been the sponsoring organization for one of sixteen regional programs of Wolf
Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts, known as Kansas Wolf Trap (KWT), since 2006. The goal of the KWT residencies is to provide professional development for early childhood teachers as well as performing arts experiences that enhance emergent literacy for 3- to 5-year-olds. Kansas Wolf Trap artists present seven-week residencies that provide professional development for teachers while also providing performing arts experiences for young children that support emergent literacy.
In January of 2011, Arts Partners became the first regional program in the country to provide training for our KWT teaching artists in Baby Artsplay!™ (BAP). The goal of BAP is to provide infants and toddlers ages 12 to 36 months, and early childhood educators who care for them, with a holistic early childhood music, drama and movement program aimed at supporting the children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development The programs include resources for parents including handouts with the goal of helping parents gain a better understanding of the important connection between the performing arts and infant/toddler learning and development.
