STEM: The Science of Sound is All Around (3rd-5th grade)Frequency, pitch (mosquito frequency)
Decibels, volume (protect your ears)
Timbre, tone (how you know it's your mama calling your name)
Noise vs. music (turn down that noise!)
The science of sound is all around us. Learning to connect the common language of music with scientific language allows students to expand and deepen their understanding of both subjects. Musical vocabulary allows us to speak in terms of qualitative data. Science terms are used to measures these same concepts. This introduction to the connections between science and sound will explore their connections. The residency will include technology (Garage Band).
Standards Addressed: Differentiate between qualitative (descriptive) data and quantitative (numerical, measurable) data in an investigation(decibels, volume, timbre).
Monday through Friday

Thank you very much for working with our students this year. As a talented and very approachable adult, you made a positive and lasting impression. You adapted lessons quickly to match learning and emotional abilities. Lessons were fun and full of lighthearted, no pressure, laughter and direction. The kids have left this year with a sense of "I CAN."
